Coming back to the quintessential Bengali fish curry, Tel Koi, there is again another detail worth sharing. I learnt that Tel Koi is not about Koi fish curry loaded with Oil (mustard Oil in this case)! According to some cookbook facts Tel Koi is actually the oil that secretes from the fish itself! It actually is the fact.

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Marinate the fishes with salt and turmeric powder for 10 minutes. Cut potatoes in wedges, tomatoes in cubes and cauliflower into florets. Fry the lentil bori and keep aside. Now shallow fry the fishes and keep aside. Make cumin paste and keep it for later use.
* Step 2
To the same oil add cumin seeds, turmeric powder, kashmiri red chilli powder, ginger, cumin seed paste and add 1 tsp water and fry the masala.add the potatoes, cauliflower and fry in the masala. Then add tomatoes and cook till oil seperates at the kadai sides
* Step 3
Add the fishes and toss lightly ad then add water to cover the fishes and vegetables and simmer the flame.Cover with lid and cook till the vegetables are soft and fishes are cooked in the gravy.
* Step 4
Transfer to a serving plate and eat with steamed rice
