Ingredient

1/2 cup

Jaggery

1 teaspoon

cardamom powder

1 teaspoon

ghee

As required

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Heat a pan. Add ghee, jaggery and coconut and mix together until the jaggery is melted. Add cardamom powder and let it cool down completely.

In a separate clean pan, add water and salt. Once water is boiled, add rice flour and switch off the gas flame. Mix the flour and water to form a dough-like texture. Cover and keep aside for 10 minutes.

Knead the rice and flour mixture to form a soft dough. Add a few drops of water if required.

Now make small balls of the dough. Flatten one dough ball using a baking sheet and glass. Traditional methods include the use of banana leaf. Now place a teaspoon of the jaggery coconut mixture omin the center and now close the flattened dough to form a D shape. Continue the same process with the remaining dough and jaggery mixture.

In a idli steamer, heat a glass of water. Place a plate inside and place all the Ela Ada and Kozhukkatta on the plate. Steam for 2-3 minutes. Serve warm or room temperature.
