Red Beans & Rice

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Cut up sausage, onion and bell peppers. Sauté in large pan with oil or bacon grease.

* Step 2

Add the chicken broth, beans, and all spices to the crockpot. Set to high.

* Step 3

When onion and pepper soften a bit, add the entire pan contents into the crockpot. Cook on high for 3-4 hours or on low for 7-8 hours.

* Step 4

When there is approx 1 hour until serving time, prepare rice in a separate pan, following package instructions. When rice is cooked, add to the crockpot and stir in. Turn crockpot to low and cook together for approx 30 minutes before serving. Add a bit of brown sugar and hot sauce to suit your taste.
