Fabergé Eggs

Beautiful Easter decorations, in the style of the great Russian royal jeweller Karl Fabergé. I had a costume brooch with several glass 'jewels' missing, so I took out the rest, and stuck them all over...

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash the eggs, and dry thoroughly.

* Step 2

Take one egg at a time, and use the needle to make a small hole in the top and a slightly larger hole in the bottom.

* Step 3

Blow hard down into the top hole, over a bowl, until the contents of the egg are squeezed out the hole at the bottom. It can take a while, and some effort to do this.

* Step 4

When all the eggs are empty, wipe them clean and sit them in egg cups or other suitable containers. The egg whites and yolks can be used for baking or making scrambled eggs.

* Step 5

Paint the top half of the eggs with patterns of your choosing...varying size of wavy and zigzag patterns work well.

* Step 6

Allow the paint to dry before turning them over and doing the same to the bottom of the eggs.

* Step 7

Allow them to dry again before using tweezers to pick up the decorative bits and bobs you are using, dip them in a little glue and carefully stick them all over the eggs. Be sure to turn them back round before you do this, so the best decorations are on the top of the eggs

* Step 8

Allow the glue to dry.

* Step 9

You can make optional egg holders by trimming and painting holes from a cardboard egg carton.
