Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Mix the dry ingredients thoroughly

Rub in the butter and the oil into the dry ingredients

Add in the egg and mix too

Mix the passion essence in the warm water and pour it into the bowl with the flour mixture

Knead to a smooth stiff dough

Let rest for 20 minutes to overnight

Roll out your dough and cut to desirable sizes. as you do this heat oil to medium high

Deep fry your dough pieces till golden brown on both sides

i had to research a new recipe. And yes! I did hit it #mycreativearrowroot contest

Ingredient

30 g

butter

1 tbsp

magarine

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

In a heated sauce pan, boil the arrow roots, but do not cover. it will take 20 - 30 minutes to be done

In another saucepan, saute the onions then add in the ginger garlic paste and let cook for a minute

Add in your minced meat and stir vigorously. cover and let cook on medium heat for 5 -8 minutes

Add in the the royco cubes and some salt and pepper, then mix thoroughly

Add in the tomatoes, cover and allow to simmer for 2 minutes. mash the tomatoes to a paste. let cook for 10 minutes under medium heat.

Add water to the minced meat level and cover. Cover and let cook for a minute then remove from heat. save some minced meat sauce to be used as an accompaniment.

Slightly mash the arrow roots then add some margarine, salt and pepper to the cooked arrow roots. using a wooden spoon, mash till smooth.

Wet your hands with excess water and scoop the mashed arrow roots then try to make a ball

Poke a hole using your finger, and put desired amount of the stuffing, press it slightly for it to be compact

Fold over the mashed arrow root from the bottom then to the sides until you cover the stuffing (don't forget to keep wetting your hands). roll into a ball

Roll the ball over the bread crumbs. let the balls rest for sometime when refridgirated.

Deep fry the balls in oil on medium heat. for 5 minutes

Remove and place in an underlined container. Serve with the rest of the sauce

Add the vanilla essence and mix pour into the greased baking tray

Spread the batter evenly to achieve a flat top

Bake in an oven at 170 degrees Celsius for 45 minutes

milk

1/4 cup

sugar

2 tbsp

magarine

2 tbsp

veg oil

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Peel and de-seed the plums. using a wooden spoon, mash the plums and dip in the milk. Add in the vanilla essence. Stir Vigorously.

* Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, mix all the dry ingredients by hand, then add in the oil and margarine and rub in gently

* Step 3

Break in the eggs one by one as you mix

* Step 4

Pour in the liquid mixture and make a smooth dough. Let it rest for 10 - 15 minutes

* Step 5

Roll out the dough to half centimeter thick and cut to desired shapes

* Step 6

In a medium heated oil, dip the pieces and let them turn golden on both sides

* Step 7

Serve

just got interested in the 'ngumu-like' mandazi and had to give it a shot...at it was very nice.

Ingredient

2 cups

flour

1/2 tbsp

baking soda

1 tbsp

magarine

1/2 cup

1/2 tbsp

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Mix all the dry ingredients thoroughly

* Step 2

Add the margarine and the oil and mix evenly

* Step 3

Add the milk/water and make a dough...do not let it be as soft as the mandazi dough

* Step 4

Put in a bowl and allow to rest for 30 minutes

* Step 5

Roll out the dough and cut into shapes

* Step 6

In a medium heated oil in a pan, put the cut dough, allow it to brown on one side for like 2 minutes, then turn the next side.

* Step 7

Put on in a strainer and allow the oil to drain
