Prawns Coconut Milk Curry- Goan Style: Sungtachi Kodi Chemmeen

Prawns Coconut Milk Curry- Goan Style: Sungtachi Kodi Chemmeen

This one’s amongst my favourites always but I love to make it with a little tweaks of my own to suit my & my family’s taste buds. It turns out to be absolutely outstandingly divine & mouthwatering in its taste & looks- Both 💁‍♀️👍

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash & Clean the prawns & apply some salt & turmeric powder to it & set aside for 30 mins time-Then, shallow fry/sauté it for not more than 2 mins on medium flame- set aside

* Step 2

Prepare the Coconut Milk- By mixing warm water to it & soak it for about 30 mins time & then strain out both the thick & the thin milk of it- set aside

Keep ready the rest other ingredients aforementioned- In a frying pan: Using the same oil as that of the sautéed prawns- Add in the mustards & cumins seeds & let that splutter

Add in the Curry Leaves, Whole Red Chillies & green cardamoms, cloves & cinnamon stick & sauté until a nice aroma is released- Now, add in the onions & sauté until translucent

Add in the 3G Paste, sauté for a minute & then, the chopped tomatoes- add in the salt, turmeric powder & red chili powder to it & keep sautéing until the tomatoes are mushy & the rest the other ingredients are well cooked & the oil surfaces up

* Step 6

Add in some water- (if required), add in the fried prawns & mix everything well together- cover the lid of the pan for 2-3 mins & let it cook

* Step 7

Now, add in the thick coconut milk & stir gently- cover it & cook for about 3 mins time. Once done: Add in the thin milk now & gently mix everything together until well combined & incorporated

* Step 8

Add in some ghee- give it a really good mix- turn off the flame & let it sit on the oven for about another 10-15 mins time

* Step 9

Dish out & Garnish- the way you like it...Serve hot with equally piping hot steamed rice or fried rice & relish it with family or friends.
