Sattu Semolina Vegetable Appe

Sattu is a high protein and high fibre flour made with roasted gram. It is one of the best vegetarian protein sources and good for growing children. I have tried appe with sattu and it is an excellent option for all meals and tiffins too. Cooking instructions

* Step 1

First, mix sattu, semolina, and rice flour in a bowl. Then add the chillies, carrots, onions, ginger, salt, cumin, green vegetables,(I used dill leaves) 1 tsp oil and mix well with a whisk.

* Step 2

Then add the buttermilk and make a smooth batter of semi thick consistency or as you make for appe or paniyaram.

* Step 3

Heat the appe pan and grease with oil or ghee. Then add baking soda, and sugar to the batter. Whisk well. Then pour spoonful portions in the appe pan, pour a small amount of oil or ghee on top of each appe circle. Cover and cook on medium heat.

* Step 4

Then turn over after 5 to 7 minutes. Then cover and cook the base side by pouring a small amount of oil or ghee on top of each. After they turn golden, remove to a hot box and make more batches in the same way.

* Step 5

Serve hot with chutney or fresh curd and pickle. Enjoy.
