Surmai fish in gravy

#meetthemeat #post2. #goldenapron #post6 Surmai fish I have made in konkani style. Tastes good with rice.

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Wash the fish.Apply little salt to it and keep aside for some time.Wash again before putting in the gravy. Dry roast coconut slices till it turns slightly brown.Keep aside.

Grind together roasted coconut slices, garlic dry red chillies, coriander and cumin seeds to a paste.

* Step 3

Heat oil in a pan put onion, green chillies and saute till onions are translucent.Put the grounded masala, turmeric powder,salt,fry for a minute or 2. Add water bring to a boil.

* Step 4

Now add the fish pieces, cover and cook for 2 -3 minutes.Check if cooked or cover and cook till done.Add lemon juice if you prefer or skip.Serve hot with rice.
