Dal tadka

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Boil dal + 0.5 tsp turmeric in a pressure cooker till soft (10-15 min or 5-7 whistles). Mash it. Add water to adjust consistency while mashing. It should be liquidy

* Step 2

In pot, take ghee, cumin seeds, ginger garlic paste (optional: Add 3-4 cloves). After it splutters add onion and chilies. Then add 0.25 tsp turmeric, 1 tsp kashmiri chilli powder, 0.5 tsp garam masala. Once onions are fried add tomatoes and salt.

* Step 3

Add dal to the pan. Let it cook for 5-7 mins. Add chopped coriander and crushed kasuri methi.

* Step 4

Prepare tadka with all tadka ingredients. And add to dal. Serve with rice or chapati. Side with papad and aachar.
