Quick & Easy "Chili Mac" Dinner
This is something that I grew up eating and I know that my children still get this in the schools sometimes as well! 😆🤦🏻♀️👍 A very popular (and fairly cheap) dish to make in our area. Hamburger is the cheapest meat you can get, canned beans are pretty inexpensive, and who doesn't have elbow macaroni noodles laying around? Amirite? 🤷🏻♀️🤣 You could use fresh or canned tomatoes and also make this with any beans that you have or choose. For that matter you could make this with any pasta as well. 😏👍🤷🏻♀️👌😎
Ingredient
Food ration :
6-8 servings
Cooking time :
45 mins
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Boil a large pot of water to fully cook pasta. Drain & set aside.
* Step 2
Meanwhile, brown hamburger in a medium to large saucepan. Drain & return to saucepan.
* Step 3
Next, add onions, drained kidney beans, & spices to hamburger in saucepan & saute until onions are softened.
* Step 4
Lastly, add the stewed tomatoes to the saucepan with their juice. (Or if using fresh tomatoes add 1 cup of water.) Add tomato sauce & pasta to mixture as well. Stir to combine well.
* Step 5
Cover & simmer over medium heat for 30 mins or until beans are softened. Serve with garlic bread or toast, garlic or cheese biscuits, cornbread, buttered bread or anything you like!
