Blackcurrant jam

We went to pick our own fruit in a farm nearby and had never tried making blackcurrant jam before but now I wished I had picked more to give away for presents.

Ingredient

Food ration :

5 servings
600 ml

water

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Boil fruit and water until a third of volume is reduced and fruit is soft. Do this slowly or the skins will toughen

* Step 2

Remove from hob and add sugar. Let it dissolve and return to the heat

* Step 3

Bring to a boil and simmer quickly to set.

* Step 4

Pot in clean sterilised jars and lid while hot. Leave to cool.

* Step 5

Label and date.
