Yet Another Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe πŸͺ

Sometimes you want to get all fancy with your chocolate chip cookies. This is NOT one of those times. πŸ˜‘ On a whim, my 5 year old daughter and I decided to make cookies. We had all the basic ingredients on hand, and these cookies took us only about 40 minutes from start to finish. Fresh, hot, homemade cookies within an hour? Please and thank you. Sadly, I didn’t get the chance to take many pictures because I was trying to supervise my daughter. This recipe originally came from joyfoodsunshine, but it’s also been posted elsewhere. Enjoy! πŸͺ β˜€οΈ #dessert #snack #teatime #sweet

Makes ~19 cookies

Cooking time :

9 to 12 minutes
1/2 cup

white sugar

1 teaspoon

vanilla extract

1 1/2 cups

all purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon

baking soda

1/4 teaspoon

baking powder

1/2 teaspoon

salt

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Make sure that your butter and egg have time to warm to nearly room temperature.

* Step 2

Whisk the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt together in a bowl.

* Step 3

Using a stand mixer with a paddle attachment, beat the butter on medium speed until it is slightly fluffy. Scrape the bowl and paddle attachment halfway through.

* Step 4

Add the sugars to the butter and beat on medium speed until lightened and fluffy (about 5 minutes). Scrape the bowl and the paddle attachment halfway through.

* Step 5

Add the egg and beat another 4 to 5 minutes. Add the vanilla and beat again until well incorporated.

* Step 6

Add about half the flour mixture to the butter mixture and stir with a spoon until nearly incorporated. Add the remaining flour and mix again. Do not overmix.

* Step 7

Add the chocolate and mix gently until everything is well distributed.

* Step 8

Scoop about 2 Tablespoons of dough into balls and place them onto the prepared cookie sheets, spacing them about 2 inches apart.

* Step 9

Bake the cookies in the preheated oven for 9 to 12 minutes. Start checking them at 9 minutes. The cookies should be very lightly browned on their tops and edges. Do not overbake!

* Step 10

As soon as they come out of the oven, sprinkle them with a little bit of sea salt towards the middle of the cookie. This helps to balance out the sweetness of the cookie.

* Step 11

Let the cookies cool for about 2 to 3 minutes on the cookie sheets. Transfer them to a sealed container and store at room temperature.
