Cooking instructions
* Step 1
To do so, first, soak 1 cup of basmati rice (190 to 200 grams) in water for 30 mins. Then drain and set rice aside.

In a large pot add 4 to 4.5 cups of water, ½ teaspoon salt and set over high heat on the stovetop. Let the water reach a full boil. Let the water reach a full boil. Simmer the rice uncovered on medium to medium-high heat.
* Step 3
Quickly strain in a colander, and let it cool completely. Cover cooked rice and set aside to cool.
* Step 4
Heat enough oil in a large Kadai, splutter the mustard seeds, urad dal along with asafoetida powder, curry leaves, and red chili.
* Step 5
Add the cooked rice, and toss everything gently, until the rice is mixed well.
