Character Made With Chocolate (Doraemon)
This was a last resort plan that I came up with, despite not being artistically talented at all. With this recipe, you can easily make the likeness of any character with a picture out of chocolate. Please try your hand at making lots of different characters!
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Prepare a picture (coloring page or hand-drawn) of the character. Place a piece of parchment paper on top and staple it to the picture.
* Step 2
Use dark or milk chocolate to draw the dark outlines of the picture. Melt a bar of chocolate in a double boiler and put it in an icing bag made of parchment or glassine paper. (Cutting open a small hole in the icing bag will allow you to draw the fine lines) Cool the finished drawing in the fridge and allow to harden.
* Step 3
Next, fill in the small parts with the colored chocolate pens. This time, I made the eyes and the center of his nose white and the bell yellow. If the chocolate is too warm, the surrounding chocolate will melt. If using chocolate pens, warm them in hot water before using. Place in the fridge again.
* Step 4
Fill in the body with blue chocolate. Return to the fridge.
* Step 5
Fill the rest of the parts with white chocolate. When filling in big parts, it's alright to forgo the cornet bag and use a spoon to cover the entire area! Put it back in the fridge again.
* Step 6
Finally, in order to make the chocolate figure thicker, coat the entire body with chocolate. ※ This picture shows it made with milk chocolate, but it's alright to use whatever chocolate that's left over. (More or less... depending on the chocolate you use, the flavor might become muddled. If you don't mind, use whatever chocolate you have)
* Step 7
Allow the chocolate to cool and harden entirely, then turn it over! If not allowed to harden thoroughly, it will not come off the parchment paper cleanly. The finished chocolate will be a mirror image of the illustration.
* Step 8
(Cornet bag instructions) Prepare a 25x20 cm piece of glassine paper. I've recently found that both sides of parchment paper are slippery and thus is hard to roll. It's alright to use, but when drawing fine lines, I recommend using glassine paper! (It's sold at dollar stores.)
* Step 9
Cut the paper diagonally with scissors.
* Step 10
↑ Maybe it's a little hard to see? I wrote numbers on it...
* Step 11
Hold the part with the ☆ mark with your left hand and hold the ② part with your right.
* Step 12
Bring the ② up to the ① so that the ☆ part in your left hand is rolled up into the center point.
* Step 14
Once you've finished rolling, fold the part near the ③ that is sticking out inside the cone.
* Step 16
Even though no one asked for it... I suddenly wanted to make Goten from Dragon Ball Z.
* Step 17
This is the Conan the Detective I made for my son's 9th birthday.
* Step 18
This year's Pokemon movie characters!
* Step 20
This was a request from my daughter. Sugar Bunnies birthday cake.
* Step 21
I put a Kumamon character on a simple roll cake.
