Easy! How to De-Sand Manila Clams or Surf Clams
Since there's only two of us, I always buy a small pack of manila clams. I thought up this ratio for removing the sand that only uses a small amount of water and is easy to remember. This is my memo.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Dissolve the salt in the water to make salt water.
* Step 2
Line the clams on a metal rack place in a tray (see Helpful Hints) without overlapping. Pour the salt water over them until the tops are just sticking out.
* Step 3
Cover with a newspaper and place in a dark place for 1-2 hours. This is for using clams bought at the supermarket.
* Step 4
Rub the shells together as you rinse with water and then you can use them in your cooking.
