Jamaican beef patties

Cooking instructions
* Step 1
Heat the oil in a skillet over moderate heat, fry the onions and garlic together.
Add the ground beef, stir and cook until cooked and browned a bit.
Add salt, spices and cook for a minute.
* Step 2
Dissolve the cube of chicken broth with hot water, add to the meat along with breadcrumbs and stir well.
Add and stir the scallions.
Let cool off while making the dough for the patties.
* Step 3
Mix the flour with salt, baking powder, curry, and turmeric.
Cut the shortening into the flour with a blender or your fingers, let the flour remain with small pea size lumps.
* Step 4
Add and mix in the flour the cold water, forming the dough. Don't knead the dough too much. Add enough water to be able to form a ball. You can add a little more water if necessary.
Put the dough in the refrigerator for 1 hour.
* Step 5
Cut the dough and make balls of 100 g. / 3.5 oz. each.
With a roller stretch the dough balls, forming 6 inches discs.
Fill the discs with the beef mixture. Wet the edges and close the patties forming a half moon shape, press the edges with a fork.
* Step 6
Place the patties on a baking sheet. Brush them with a 1 beaten egg and 1 tablespoon milk.
Preheat oven to 428° F.
Cook the beef patties for about 20 minutes.
This beef patties can be fry too.

Serve immediately.
