French Beans Foogath French Beans Stir fry

They are very important part of any vegetarian diet. This week, I have made French beans foogath which is a very quick and easy southern recipe and tastes yummy with rice or roti. It's a simple stir-fry of beans with spices and topped with fresh coconut. Enjoy!

Ingredient

Food ration :

4 servings

Cooking time :

15 minutes
250 gms

French beans

1/2 tsp

Asafoetida

As required

Salt

2-3 tablespoons

Hot water

Cooking instructions

* Step 1

First, wash and dry the beans. Cut them in desired shape like squares or small cubes

Then take an iron wok and add oil. When it heats up, add Mustard seeds, chana daal, urad daal, asafoetida and stir well. Then add curry leaves, red chillies and mix well and cook for one minute.

Now, add the beans and mix well. Cook them for 1 minute with cover. Sprinkle some hot water, rest of the spices and stir well. Close the lid and let them cook for another minute.

* Step 4

When they are half cooked, add salt, half the portion of coconut and mix well. Sprinkle some hot water again and let the beans cook with cover on for 2 minutes. Keep the flame medium.

* Step 5

Then switch off flame when beans are almost done and let them rest for 5 minutes with lid on. Then add lemon juice and mix well. Then serve garnished with more coconut along with rice or roti. Enjoy!
