Cooking instructions

* Step 1

Take a bowl, add rice & dal, mix it well. Wash it, soak in water for 1 hr. Strain it. Add in a pressure cooker.

In goes salt, ghee & haldi powder, now add 3 cup water, place the lid.

Give 5 whistles on high flame. Turn off the flame, allow it to depressurise naturally. Open the lid after a minute.

Now add 3 more cup boiled water (adjustable), mix it well. Cook it on low flame until khichdi becomes homogeneous & a lil thin. Turn off the flame.

Meanwhile take a tadka pan, add ghee, heat it. In goes hing & zeera, let it splutter.

Add green chilli now, saute it for a sec. In goes dry red chilli, cook it for 30 sec.

Add in onion, stir fry it until brown. In goes tomato & salt, mix it well.

Going in now ginger garlic paste, saute it until rawness is released. Add lil water to avoid burning.

Mix it well adding haldi powder, dhania powder & red chilli powder, cook it until oil has oozed out. Add in garam masala powder, mix it well.

* Step 10

Transfer tadka in the cooked khichdi, mix it well. Turn on the flame, cook it on low flame for a minute. Turn off the flame.

Take out in a serving bowl, add ghee, serve hot with Chutney, Curd, Papad & Salad...
