French Toast With Pecan Butter Syrup
With fall around the corner, I wanted to try out a butter pecan syrup recipe my friend shared with me. It paired great with French toast.
Cooking instructions
* Step 1
In a saucepan over medium heat melt the butter. Once it starts to melt add the 1/4 cup of water. Stir the mixture and add maple syrup and brown sugar. Stir over low heat for about 2-3 minutes.
* Step 2
Add your toasted pecan pieces and take off the burner and cover while you prepare the toast. The syurp will thicken as it sits.
* Step 3
Cut your bread into the size you desire
* Step 4
In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, half and half, flour, and vanilla extract.
* Step 5
Heat your skillet to medium and melt the butter.
* Step 6
Dip the bread into your egg mixture
* Step 7
Fry on both sides until brown and place a few pieces on individual plates and pour your syrup over the top. Optional add powdered sugar for an extra boost of sweetness. Any leftover syrup stays shelf ready if in a sealed container for about 6 days.
